The Certificate Course in Electrician is a two-year Programme offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical College, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), Dayalbagh, Agra in the Distance Education mode at several out-station locations across the country. The course is NCVT- aligned and the eligibility for this programme is Class X pass under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent. The Certificate Programme in Electrician is divided into 4 semesters (two years), the first two semesters having 9 courses comprising of 2 trade theories, 2 trade practicals, 3 compulsory courses as per NCVT guidelines viz. Each trade theory or trade practical course is divided into 5 Units of 6 lessons each i.e. a total of 30 lessons. The 3 compulsory courses have been divided into two parts-each part to be completed in each of the first two semesters. There is a summer term of 30 days comprising of two trade practical and workshop courses after the first year, followed by a two semester term of practical industrial training. The trade theory and trade practical courses have been designed by the Department of Electrical Engineering and they cover all the topics in the Two year Certificate Programme in Electrician under the Craftsman Training Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Employment & Labour (DGE&T). Hence the Certificate Programme of the DEI is equivalent to Electrician course offered under the Craftsman Training Scheme. The self-learning material provided to the student is supplemented and supported by video lessons which are shown to the student before the study of each lesson. In addition, workshop practice forms a major portion of studies. In view of the above features of the programme, the student is given the option to exit from the programme after one year.DEPARTMENT PROFILE
